What are the benefits of online hypnotherapy?

online hypnotherapy offers a flexible, accessible, and often more comfortable alternative to traditional in-person sessions, making it an effective option for many people, anywhere in the world no matter what time zone.

Yes! Hypnosis can work online just as well as a face to face appointment . Since hypnosis is achieved with the help of the guided instructions of the hypnotist, all you need is a good audio connection.

The reason we use video even though your eyes are closed for most of it is because it helps us guage where you are at based on changes to your body and physiology without you needing to verbally tell us.

You  can connect with the hypnotist who feels like a good fit for you, or specailises in your issue, regardless of where you live; and you can save commute time while staying as comfortable as possible: many clients like to have their session in bed!

There are a few things that can help maximise the effectivness of your online hypnosis session: a good internet connection and good pair of headphones, a place where you can relax comfortably without getting interrputed, and a way to have a camera pointing at your face without you holding it up. (A laptop or tablet works better than a phone.

No matter what difficulties you are facing and where in the world you are, you will be guaranteed a warm, empathetic and professional welcome from me.

Hypnotherapy and Counselling skills join to become Clinical Hypnotherapy in Torquay, and beyond

Hi, im Caroline

I became interested in hypnotherapy through a combination of healthy cynicism and curiosity. Initially skeptical, I was intrigued by the claims and potential of hypnotherapy as an adjunct to traditional counseling.

As I delved deeper, I discovered that counseling, when combined with hypnotherapy, offers a profound and transformative experience for clients. The integration of these techniques not only enhances the therapeutic process but also allows clients to access deeper layers of their subconscious. This combination fosters greater self-awareness and healing, making the counseling experience more enlightening and impactful.

Children And Adults Alike Can Benefit From Hypnotherapy

Clinical hypnotherapy is effective for both adults and children due to its ability to access the subconscious mind, where deeply rooted behaviors and thought patterns reside. In adults, hypnotherapy can address a range of issues such as anxiety, chronic pain, and smoking cessation by helping individuals reframe negative thoughts and develop healthier coping mechanisms. For children, whose imaginations are naturally more vivid, hypnotherapy can be particularly powerful in reducing fears, enhancing focus, and managing behavioral problems. The process involves deep relaxation and heightened concentration, allowing suggestions for positive change to be more readily accepted and integrated into everyday life. This adaptability across age groups makes hypnotherapy a versatile tool in promoting psychological and physical well-being.

With over 30 years of experience working within therapy, I now integrate hypnotherapy with advanced counselling skills. This unique combination enhances personal growth, offering clients a deep, transformative approach to healing and self-discovery. My extensive background ensures a compassionate and effective therapeutic experience. This can either be in my consulting room in central Torquay or remote across the world by Zoom.

How can we help?

We can help with exam stress

Clinical hypnotherapy can be an effective tool for managing exam nerves by:

1. **Relaxation Techniques**: Hypnotherapy helps induce deep relaxation, reducing anxiety and stress.

2. **Positive Visualisation**: It encourages visualization of successful outcomes, boosting confidence.

3. **Reframing Negative Thoughts**: Hypnotherapy can help reframe anxious thoughts into positive affirmations, reducing fear.

4. **Improved Focus**: Techniques used can enhance concentration and memory recall during exams.

5. **Coping Strategies**: It teaches coping mechanisms for handling stress and maintaining calmness under pressure.

These methods together can help individuals approach exams with a more positive and relaxed mindset.

We can help with phobia’s and fears

Hypnotherapy can be an effective treatment for overcoming phobias and fears by tapping into the subconscious mind, where these anxieties are deeply rooted. Through a relaxed, trance-like state, I  can help individuals confront and reframe their fears, altering the subconscious associations that trigger intense fear responses. This therapeutic process often involves visualisation  techniques and positive suggestion to replace irrational fears with calm and rational thoughts. As a result, hypnotherapy can reduce the emotional impact of phobias, leading to a significant improvement in the individual's ability to manage and eventually overcome their fears.

We can help with pain reduction

Hypnotherapy can reduce pain levels through several mechanisms:

1.Altered Perception of Pain Hypnosis can change the way the brain perceives pain. During a hypnotherapy session, a therapist guides the patient into a deeply relaxed state and then uses suggestions to help the patient reframe their experience of pain. This can make the pain feel less intense or less bothersome.

2.Relaxation and Stress Reduction Hypnotherapy often involves techniques that promote deep relaxation. Relaxation can reduce muscle tension and anxiety, both of which can exacerbate pain. By lowering stress levels, hypnotherapy can indirectly alleviate pain.

 3. Focused Attention and Distraction: Hypnosis helps patients focus their attention away from the pain. By concentrating on something else, the perception of pain can diminish. The mind's ability to divert attention can be a powerful tool in pain management.

4.Endorphin Release: Hypnosis can stimulate the release of endorphins, which are the body’s natural painkillers. Endorphins can improve mood and reduce the sensation of pain.

5.Cognitive Restructuring: Hypnotherapy can help patients change negative thoughts and feelings associated with chronic pain. By shifting their mindset, patients may experience less psychological distress and consequently, less pain.

6.Improved Coping Skills Hypnotherapy can enhance a patient’s ability to cope with pain. Techniques learned during hypnosis, such as visualization and positive thinking, can be used outside of sessions to manage pain more effectively.

7.Pain Desensitisation sensation  Through repeated hypnotherapy sessions, patients can become desensitised to pain. The brain becomes trained to respond differently to pain signals, reducing the overall pain experience.

Research supports the effectiveness of hypnotherapy for pain management. Studies have shown it can significantly reduce pain in conditions like arthritis, cancer, fibromyalgia, and post-surgical recovery. However, it is most effective when used as part of a comprehensive pain management plan, rather than a standalone treatment.

We can help with Childhood trauma and PTSD

Hypnotherapy can help heal childhood trauma by accessing and reprocessing traumatic memories stored in the subconscious mind. Here’s how it works:

1. Accessing Repressed Memories Hypnotherapy can bring repressed or suppressed traumatic memories to the surface, allowing individuals to confront and process them in a safe environment.

 2. Altering Perceptions Under hypnosis, therapists can help individuals change their perceptions of past traumatic events. This might involve reframing the trauma, reducing its emotional intensity, or altering its impact on the individual’s current life.

3.Emotional Release Hypnotherapy can facilitate the release of pent-up emotions associated with trauma. By expressing these emotions in a controlled setting, individuals can achieve emotional catharsis and relief.

4.Building Coping Mechanisms Through hypnotherapy, individuals can develop healthier coping mechanisms and responses to triggers related to their trauma, improving their overall emotional resilience.

5.Positive Suggestion Therapists can use positive suggestions and affirmations to boost the individual’s self-esteem and encourage positive behavioral changes, helping to counteract the negative impacts of trauma.

6.Reducing Symptoms Hypnotherapy can help alleviate symptoms of trauma such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and phobias by addressing the root cause of these issues.

7.Integration and Healing: Ultimately, hypnotherapy aims to integrate the traumatic experiences into the individual’s broader life narrative in a way that diminishes their negative power, promoting overall healing and well-being.

Overall, hypnotherapy offers a non-invasive and empathetic approach to addressing and healing the deep-seated wounds of childhood trauma.

We can help improve confidence and self esteem and banish stage fright

Hypnotherapy can be an effective tool for addressing poor confidence and self-esteem by leveraging the power of the subconscious mind. Here are some ways it can help:

    1.    Identifying Root Causes: Hypnotherapy can help uncover underlying issues or past experiences that contribute to low self-esteem and confidence. Understanding these root causes can be the first step towards healing.
    2.    Changing Negative Thought Patterns: Through guided hypnosis, a therapist can help reframe negative beliefs and thought patterns. This can lead to a more positive self-image and a boost in confidence.
    3.    Enhancing Positive Affirmations: Hypnotherapy can reinforce positive affirmations and suggestions while the person is in a highly suggestible state. This can help ingrain positive self-beliefs more deeply.
    4.    Reducing Anxiety and Fear: Hypnosis can help reduce anxiety and fear, which often accompany low self-esteem. By addressing these feelings, individuals can feel more confident in their abilities.
    5.    Visualization Techniques: Hypnotherapy often uses visualization techniques to help individuals imagine themselves succeeding and feeling confident. This mental rehearsal can translate to improved real-life confidence.
    6.    Behavioral Changes: By influencing the subconscious mind, hypnotherapy can help encourage behavioral changes that support improved self-esteem and confidence, such as taking more risks, speaking up, and pursuing goals.
    7.    Building Self-Awareness: Hypnotherapy can enhance self-awareness, helping individuals recognize their strengths and value, which can boost their overall confidence.

Overall, hypnotherapy can be a powerful complement to other forms of therapy and self-improvement techniques, helping individuals build a more positive self-image and greater self-assurance.

We can help with irritable bowel syndrome

Hypnotherapy can help with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) in several ways:

 1. Stress Reduction: Hypnotherapy can promote deep relaxation, reducing stress and anxiety, which are known to exacerbate IBS symptoms.

 2. Gut-Brain Axis Regulation: Hypnotherapy can influence the gut-brain axis, the communication network between the gut and the brain. By fostering positive thinking and reducing the brain's sensitivity to pain signals from the gut, it can help manage IBS symptoms.

3.Symptom Management: Hypnotherapy can help individuals visualize their symptoms improving. Techniques may involve visualizing the digestive system functioning smoothly, which can reduce the perception of pain and discomfort.

 4. Behavioural Changes: Through guided imagery and suggestions, hypnotherapy can help change negative thought patterns and behaviors related to eating and digestion.

 5. Improvement in Quality of Life: By alleviating symptoms and reducing stress, hypnotherapy can enhance the overall quality of life for IBS sufferers.

Clinical studies have shown that gut-directed hypnotherapy can significantly reduce IBS symptoms for many patients, with effects often lasting long after the treatment ends.
